 WOMEN AND POWER:
IT'S OUR TIME OR IS IT?
This free webinar is March 27 – apologies for the late notice; be sure not to miss it.
As we watched the rows of white-suited women in the U.S. Congress during the State of the Union speech, we see that one of the most influential political movements of the last few years, Black Lives Matter, was founded by three women and watch the box office hits of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel change our image or super heroes, we felt it was time to engage in dialogue about  Women and Power: It’s Our Time, Or Is It?
21 LESSONS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
by Yuval Noah Harari
Reviewer: Julie O'Mara, CEO & Board Chair,
The Centre for Global Inclusion,
North Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
I highly recommend this book. The author, Yuval Noah Harari, is a historian, an Israeli, and a lecturer at the University of Jerusalem. Almost every sentence in his book is a deep thought. And, with his insight and humor, it’s a fun book to read.

The book jacket opens with these intriguing questions: “How do computers and robots change the meaning of being human? How do we deal with the epidemic of fake news? Are nations and religions still relevant? What should we teach our children?”

Vice President, Commission on Economic Inclusion,
Greater Cleveland Partnership,
Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The Greater Cleveland Partnership’s (GCP) Commission on Economic Inclusion has utilized the GDIB in framing the thought process around diversity and inclusion. It has done this by using the GDIB to influence the development of GCP’s own tool. GCP distributes its annual Diversity and Inclusion Organization Assessment, a tool that helps companies benchmark their organization’s diversity and inclusion efforts and gain insights into ways to improve, to members.

As an affiliate of the GCP, Northeast Ohio’s chamber of commerce, The Commission on Economic Inclusion has been working since 2001 to close the racial disparities in jobs, income and wealth by helping grow businesses owned by people of color and increasing workforce diversity, equity and inclusion. Functioning as a diversity and inclusion planning tool for businesses, the GDIB tool allows business leaders to assess where their companies stand as it relates to inclusivity and diversity and provides a range of best practice advice on innovative steps that could be taken to improve inclusion that organizations might not be considering, such as through hiring practices, sustainability efforts, and more. Each question included in the Assessment is not just a question, but rather an action item that generates data users of the Assessment can utilize to take action.
ABOUT THE DEI FUTURES INITIATIVE
DEI FUTURES INITIATIVE UPDATE
ALMOST 50 VOLUNTEERS
ACTIVELY WORKING NOW
By: Heidi Batz Rogers, Principal, Creative Collaborator,
Three Things Group,
Minneapolis, MN, USA.
There is a great deal of energy around the DEI Futures Initiative – orchestrated by The Centre for Global Inclusion and the FutureWork Institute. Much is happening this month. Almost 50 individuals are devoting their time to moving toward our vision (see below). Heidi Batz Rogers is the Project Lead, orchestrating the many volunteers involved. It’s a big job!!!

Thank you to the Design Team co-leads Cindi Love and Julie O’Mara and team members Heidi Batz Rogers, Joel Brown, Shawndra Cox-Diaz, Tina Cruz-Hubbard, Jason Mak, Amra Mubashir, Shireen Naqvi, Margaret Regan, and Naseem Yasin for their guidance on the messaging and the artful collaboration in designing the DEI Futures logo. The logo, guided by and constructed beautifully by The Centre’s branding expert, Shawndra Cox-Diaz, tells the story of how these six important Actions will create ripples or shifts toward the influence of DEI on the global future we envision. More on the messaging when we announce the logo next month.

Values team members Duncan Smith and Julie O’Mara continue work articulating the project’s overall vision and values and all the important information to convey the story of how this initiative came to be. Six Action teams are driving toward an April 1, 2019 goal for completion of the action content and recommendations that support them based on the DEI Futures event in April, 2018.

The DEI FUTURES Initiative VISION.
Envision a future where diversity, equity, and inclusion are ever present and woven into every aspect of life. As global leaders and influencers, we shall act now to create a better future for all, by striving to:
FROM & ABOUT THE CENTRE & THE GDIB
WE’VE ADDED A NEW WORD TO OUR TAGLINE – SUPPORT!

Four of our DEI Futures Initiative participants were discussing their experience and suggested that one of the most important things they felt after the DEI Futures event in April 2018 was support. They suggested that we add the word 'SUPPORT' to our tagline. The Centre Board voted to do so and see above for the addition of support. This group calls themselves the Sutton Four (named after the city in Quebec where they decided support should be added). Thank you to Natasha Aruliah , Heidi Batz Rogers , Lynda White , and Naseem Yasin . We are welcome to ideas from others, too.

MEET US AT
THE FORUM NEXT MONTH!
For 31 years, The Forum on Workplace Inclusion® annual conference has served as a convening hub for those seeking to grow professional leadership and effectiveness skills in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The socio-political environments in which we live and work around the world are testing our personal values and beliefs. Separate realities and opposing viewpoints often collide making it difficult to identify or address the systemic and polarizing gaps perpetuating obstacles to inclusion. Let’s change that – together. Register for the 31st  annual Forum on Workplace Inclusion as we work to  Bridge the Gap .

As you register be sure to read the descriptions for all the sessions. This year is an especially great selection – well worth close study and pre-planning. Be sure to note the special sessions on Bold Conversations which have been designed by Expert Panelist Mary-Frances Winters. They are designed in response to some deep, timely issues. Go here to read about them.
Go here for additional information about the program and registration

Also please note the free Coaching sessions – you need to sign up in advance .
