BERNARDO FERDMAN, Ph.D.
Bernardo, a leadership and OD consultant and board-certified coach with 35+ years’ experience in the U.S. and around the world, is passionate about creating an inclusive world where more people can be fully themselves and accomplish goals effectively, productively, and authentically. His firm, Ferdman Consulting, focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion, inclusive leadership, and executive coaching. Bernardo created Inclusion@Work®, a digital coaching platform for learning about inclusion, and the Inclusion@Work® Assessment. A distinguished professor emeritus at the California School of Professional Psychology, he teaches in several executive education programs, including UCLA Anderson’s, where he developed and directs a new program on inclusive leadership. Bernardo has written numerous articles and chapters, made 300+ presentations, and conducted research on various aspects of inclusion. His 2014 book, Diversity at Work: The Practice of Inclusion (co-edited with Barbara Deane), provides a research-based understanding of inclusion. He is currently completing a volume focusing on inclusive leadership, scheduled for publication in 2020. Bernardo is president of The Diversity Collegium, Fellow of APA and the International Academy for Intercultural Research, past Chair of Academy of Management’s Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee and its Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division, and past president of the Interamerican Society of Psychology. Among his various awards is the 2019 Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Consulting from the Society of Consulting Psychology. Bernardo—a native Spanish speaker who immigrated to the U.S. as a child—earned a Ph.D. in Psychology at Yale University and an A.B. degree at Princeton University.
