Dr. George Simons

George Simons. With 50 years of experience in cross-cultural communication and global management, Dr. Simons has been internationally sought for his consulting and training expertise by petrochemical, hi-tech, manufacturing, finance and consumer goods companies as well as by governments, NGOs and educational organizations. Holding a Doctorate from Claremont Graduate School in Psychology, he has authored eight instruments in the Cultural Detective® series and created or edited over one hundred games in the diversophy® series of training games.

Dr. Simons online collaborations resulted in books on EuroDiversity, Global Competence, Working Together, Putting Diversity to Work, Men & Women, Partners at Work, and Transcultural Leadership. He has coauthored The Questions of Diversity, The Cultural Diversity Fieldbook, Cultural Diversity Sourcebook, and, most recently, Seven Ways to Lighten Your Life, as well as five books of poetry. A SIETAR member for over 30 years, he has served on its French and European governing boards. He manages both personal & SIETAR LinkedIn and Facebook sites, currently having over 17,000 members and he regularly contributes to social networks on intercultural and men’s issues.

He has delivered intercultural negotiation sessions for the Turkmenistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its diplomatic corps and parliament members (Ashgabat and conducted virtual intercultural leadership coaching for managers in the French Banking Industry and for United Nations Staff. For six years he delivered regular face-to-face, diversity and intercultural negotiation skills programs for the Asian Development Bank (Manila).

Much in demand as a keynote speaker and workshop leader at intercultural conferences, he is currently engaged in collaboration with JAMK University of Applied Science, guiding the development of the New Horizons Project, which uses gamification to assist in the acculturation of migrants into local communities and educational systems. Similar academic collaborations are underway, including new games on Ecology with the University of Bourgogne at Dijon, FR, and development of an intercultural gaming app with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, NL.

Born in the USA, Dr. Simons has lived in Germany, The Netherlands, and currently resides in France. He has worked in over 50 countries and speaks fluent English, German, French, and Spanish.
