With over two decades of experience in Strategic Business Consulting, Inclusion Coaching, Global Diversity and Leadership Development, Mercedes Martin brings a radically different approach to her work.  As a Leadership Expert and Business Consultant, she sheds new light on the topics of business transformation, disruption, and innovation.  She navigates uncharted waters by first examining the basic core human needs to be seen, heard and connected and builds from this premise.  Through her unique use of storytelling, she weaves the political, social and economic impact of these topics to establish a cultural context for the individual, teams and the organization.  

Before joining Aperian Global, Mercedes launched her independent consultancy focused on designing and developing high performing global teams. She worked at Ernst & Young (EY) for almost 10 years as Talent Development and Organizational Change Consultant and as an Executive Coach. Prior to her tenure at EY, she was EVP Business Transformation and Innovation at Ashton212 consultant firm.  Before that, she was co-founder and CEO of In Partnership Consulting, specializing in business strategy, leadership development, and global diversity.  Early in her career, Mercedes served as a Staff Development Officer in the United States Air Force, which is where she realized that she had a passion for coaching, and training.

A native Spanish speaker, Mercedes holds a B.Sc. in Transcultural Nursing from the University of Miami and a M.Sc. in Leadership Development from the University of San Francisco. She holds multiple certifications including: MEECO Master Executive Coach, 360 Assessment Coaching from the Center for Creative Leadership, and an Executive Coaching certification from Results Coaching Systems.

Mercedes is a pioneer in global leadership and diversity who has successfully developed high performing teams with measurable impact.  She has worked with Fortune 50 companies, including PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Shell Oil, and Kellogg’s.  She has worked in West Africa, Europe and South America as well as the United States.  In these engagements, she developed and designed learning labs that catapulted participants into taking purposeful action. Mercedes challenges the learning and development status quo to help leaders, teams and organizations shift to a sustainable mindset.
