Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are personal and professional commitments for Michael Wheeler. Named a “Pioneer of Diversity” by Diversity Journal, he has three decades of globally recognized thought leadership and accomplishments as a corporate executive, researcher, author and entrepreneur working across industries and sectors globally. As Chief Diversity Officer at Omnicom Media Group and Director of Global Diversity & Inclusion for Merck & Co. Inc., he successfully built and led global corporate DEI strategies and structures aligning them with business strategy. As Program Director and Researcher at The Conference Board, he envisioned, built and led the Diversity & Inclusion area of expertise which included authoring seminal research, designing and directing global conferences and launching the nation’s first Fortune 500 corporate executive Council on Workforce Diversity. As an entrepreneur, his innovative work includes: The Diversity Performance Factor Project (DPFs)ô, the Diversity Performance Factor (DPFs)ô Model and Process, The Impact Forum – a leadership development program a Diversity Drives Innovation workshop. He served as President of The Diversity Collegium—a global cross-sector/-industry think tank of DEI leaders and has been an Expert Panelist for the Global Diversity & Inclusion Benchmarks for over a decade. Seminal research and publications include the first special sections on Diversity for both Harvard Business Review and Business Week. He wrote what some call their “Diversity Bible,” The Diversity Executive: Tasks, Competencies and Strategies for Effective Leadership, published by The Conference Board. His newest publication—a living series of topical issues—is The Global Diversity Roundtable.
